Record your screen straight from the browser

Press the button, choose your whole screen, one window or one browser tab, and the recording starts. Add your own voice if you like, and press Stop recording when you have finished, or use the browser's own Stop sharing button. You then play the video back and save it. The recording is made in your browser: it has no watermark and is never uploaded.

What you can record

Your browser's picker lets you share the entire screen, a single application window or one browser tab. Whether the sound of the shared screen or tab is captured depends on your browser and your system: sharing a browser tab usually includes its sound, while sharing the whole screen includes system sound only on some systems. The picker shows a sound option when it is available.

Adding your voice

Tick Also record my microphone before you start and the page mixes your voice with any shared sound into one audio track. For a clean narration, use headphones so the sound from your speakers does not feed into the microphone, and run the microphone test first if you are not sure your microphone works.

Mind what is on the screen

Everything visible in the shared screen or window is recorded, including notifications, other tabs and anything personal. Sharing a single tab or window keeps the rest of your desktop out of the video. The browser shows that sharing is active, and you can end it at any time with its Stop sharing button, which also ends the recording and keeps what you have recorded so far.

Phones and what to do next

Most phone and tablet browsers do not allow screen capture, so on those use the screen recording built into the device. Afterwards, cut the start and end with the video trimmer, shrink the file with the video compressor, convert it to MP4 with the video converter, or make a short clip into a GIF with the video to GIF converter.

Frequently asked questions

How do I record my screen online?
Press Choose a screen and record, then pick your whole screen, a window or a tab in the browser's picker. The recording starts at once. Press Stop recording, or the browser's Stop sharing button, to finish, then play it back and download it.
Does the screen recorder add a watermark or upload my video?
No. The recording is made in your browser with no watermark, and it is saved only when you press Download. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I record sound from my computer?
Sometimes. Sharing a browser tab usually includes that tab's sound, and sharing the whole screen includes system sound only on some systems. Look for a share-audio option in the browser's picker. You can also record your microphone.
Can I record my voice at the same time?
Yes. Tick Also record my microphone before you start. Your voice is mixed with any shared sound into the recording. Use headphones to stop the speakers feeding back into the microphone.
What format is the screen recording saved in?
WebM in Chrome, Edge and Firefox and MP4 in Safari. Press Convert to MP4 if you need an MP4 from a WebM recording.
How do I stop the recording?
Press Stop recording on this page, or press the browser's own Stop sharing button. Either way the recording ends and what you captured so far is kept for playback and download.
Does screen recording work on phones and tablets?
Mostly no. Most mobile browsers do not allow websites to capture the screen. Use the screen recording feature built into your phone or tablet instead.
Is it safe to record my screen in the browser?
The browser asks permission each time and shows when sharing is active. Everything visible in what you share is recorded, so share a single tab or window if you want to keep other things out, and close anything private first.
