Privacy Policy

Stax ("we", "us", or "our") operates https://stax.tools. This page explains what data we collect, what we don't collect, and how the site is built to protect your privacy by default.
The short version
- Tool input is never sent to our servers. Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Your JSON, files, code, or calculations stay on your device.
- We use anonymous analytics. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity collect aggregate, anonymous data about how visitors use the site (page views, scroll depth, rage-clicks) for every visitor, with no cookie banner, and set the cookies listed below. Clarity records session replays, which can include text shown on the page. What you type into a tool is not sent to our servers. We also run our own first-party visit counter that sets no cookies and stores no IP address (details below).
- No ads at present. We show no ads and load no advertising code. If we add advertising later, a cookie banner returns and this page is updated first.
- No accounts required for free tools. You can use everything on Stax without ever signing up.
Data we don't collect
- We do not collect or store the content you enter into any tool (e.g. JSON you format, files you upload, calculations you run).
- File processing tools (PDF, image) load files into your browser's memory only. Files are never uploaded to our servers.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA).
Data we do collect
- Anonymous usage analytics: page URL, referrer, device type, country (derived from IP, not stored long-term), and aggregate event counts (e.g. "tool_used"). Provided by Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID redacted) and Microsoft Clarity.
- Our own visit counter (first-party): for each page view we record the page path (without the query string), the page you came from (website address only, plus any utm_ campaign tags in the link), how long the page was in view, how far you scrolled, which tool actions you used (such as "tool_used" or "file_downloaded", never what you typed or the files you used; for the search box in the header, only that you opened it and which tool you picked, never the words you typed), your country (from Cloudflare's request headers), and your device type, browser, operating system, window width and language, whether the page was reloaded, and the name of the app (for example Instagram) when you open a link inside an app's own browser. It is tied to a random id kept in your browser's localStorage, so we can tell a returning visit from a new one. We also keep a one-way scrambled marker of your network for that day (it changes every day, cannot be turned back into an address and is deleted after 7 days), only to tell several visitors on one shared network, such as an office or a school, from one visitor. We do not store your IP address and we make no recordings of your screen. The data lives in our own database on Cloudflare and is not shared with anyone. Clear your site data to reset the id, or run
localStorage.setItem("stax_ignore", "1")in your browser console to switch it off for that browser. - Ratings and comments (only if you send one): the stars and optional comment you submit under a tool are stored in our own database with the tool name, your country, device type, browser and the site language. We also keep a one-way scrambled marker of your browser and another of your network address (the second changes every day) so that one person cannot vote many times and a flood of fake votes can be spotted. They cannot be turned back into an address. We also keep the random visit id from our own visit counter (described above) next to the rating, so we can see which visit it came from: for example where the visitor arrived from and which pages they used. That id is not your name and does not identify you. We collect no name or email address with a rating, so please do not type personal details into a comment. We read every rating before it is counted in the average shown on the tool page, and a comment is published on that page only after we have read and approved it, without any information about you.
- Pro waitlist (only if you join): after you download a result from a video or audio tool we may ask whether you want to hear if a paid plan launches. If you type your email address and press "Tell me if it launches", we store that address, the tool page you were on, the time, your country (from Cloudflare's request headers) and a one-way scrambled marker of your network address that changes every day and is used only to stop one source adding many addresses. We use the address for one purpose: to tell you if a paid plan launches. We do not share or sell it, we use no outside email service to hold it, and nothing you processed in a tool is attached to it. To be removed, write to hello@stax.tools from that address and we erase it. Your agreement is the button you press; choosing "Not now" or ignoring the box stores nothing.
- Page-speed data: Cloudflare, which serves this site, adds its own page-speed beacon to our pages. It loads a script from static.cloudflareinsights.com and sends a small page-load timing report to this site's /cdn-cgi/rum address, so we can find slow pages.
- Contact form (only if you open it): the contact page loads Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check, to confirm a real person is sending the message. The message, name and email address you type are sent to us only when you press send.

Cookie banner, consent and advertising
There is currently no cookie banner. Since 15 October 2026 the site asks for no consent: Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity run for every visitor from the first page and may set the cookies listed above without asking first. Google Consent Mode is set to granted for analytics storage; the advertising signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) stay denied because no ads run. This is a trial that we expect to last about 15 days. If you do not want these cookies, block them with your browser settings or a content blocker, or delete them from your browser at any time.
Microsoft Clarity records how the site is used (clicks, scrolling and the page as it appears), which can include text shown on the page. Do not enter secrets or personal data into any website that you would not want recorded. What you type into a tool is not sent to our servers.
We show no ads and load no advertising code. We may apply for Google AdSense later. If we do, a cookie banner will return and this page will be updated before any advertising starts.
AI features
Stax Tools has no AI features at present, and nothing you type or open in a tool is sent to an AI provider. If we add one later, it will be optional (you will have to press a button to use it), and this page will say what is sent and to whom before it is released.
Your rights and choices
- Analytics cookies. There is currently no banner and no Cookie settings link. You can block or delete the cookies listed above in your browser settings or with a content blocker, and clearing site data for stax.tools removes them.
- Use an ad blocker. We do not detect or restrict ad blockers.
- EU/EEA, UK, Swiss residents have GDPR/UK-GDPR rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we don't hold accounts or store input, the only personal data we process is contained in third-party analytics cookies set on your own device by the analytics tools (clear them via your browser to delete) and, only if you joined the Pro waitlist, the email address you gave us: write to hello@stax.tools and we will show you what we hold or erase it.
- California residents can request access or deletion under the CCPA. Same as above: deletion happens at the browser level, and a waitlist address is erased when you write to hello@stax.tools.
Third-party services we use
- Cloudflare — hosts this site and our own analytics database (analytics.stax.tools). Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics 4 — analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — session replay & heatmaps. Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — spam check on the contact form only. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- jsDelivr (and unpkg as a backup) — public content-delivery networks. The video and audio tools download their processing engine (FFmpeg) from them once, and the engine then runs in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves (for example, when accounts and Pro features launch). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on the site.
