Stax publishes calculators and guides about money, tax, health and engineering. These topics affect real decisions, so this page explains how we keep the numbers right, what we do when we get something wrong, and how we handle advertising.
How we check the numbers
- Every worked example is computed, not typed from memory. Figures in explanations, FAQs and blog posts are recomputed with a separate script derived from the formula, and compared with what the calculator on the page returns.
- Primary sources first. For tax, savings and regulation we rely on the Finance Bill memoranda, the Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, PFRDA, the GST Council and exchange circulars. Explainer sites are used only to corroborate. Where an official page could not be read, or a rule is too recent to confirm, we say so or leave the claim out.
- Assumptions are stated. Where a result depends on a convention (for example monthly versus quarterly compounding, or which financial year's slabs apply), the page says which one the tool uses.
- Health content is educational. Category boundaries come from published guidelines (for example the AHA blood-pressure categories). Nothing here is medical advice.
Keeping pages current
Pages show a last-updated date, and blog posts show a last-reviewed date when they have been revised. Rates and rules change (annual Budgets, quarterly small-savings rates, GST Council decisions), so we revisit the affected calculators and guides when they do. If a page looks out of date, please tell us.
Not advice
Calculators give estimates from the inputs you provide. They are not personalised financial, tax, legal or medical advice, and our writers are not SEBI-registered investment advisers. For decisions that matter, check with a qualified professional.
Corrections
If you find an error, email hello@stax.tools with the page and what looks wrong. We check it against the source, fix it, and record material fixes below.
| Date | Page | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| 2 Oct 2026 | EPF calculator | The employer's EPF share was modelled as 3.67% of basic at any salary, which understated a ₹30,000 basic by about 30%. It now applies the pension-share cap. The page's worked example (about ₹4.5 crore) did not match the tool; it now reads about ₹2.3 crore. |
| 2 Oct 2026 | TDS calculator, FD, RD and SCSS pages | Thresholds updated to the Budget 2025 limits (for example section 194A: ₹50,000, or ₹1,00,000 for senior citizens) and two rates corrected (194H and 194IB are 2%). |
| 2 Oct 2026 | Loan prepayment, credit card payoff, SIP, XIRR, SWP, lumpsum and other calculators | Worked examples that the tools did not reproduce were recomputed and corrected (for example a ₹2 lakh prepayment saves about ₹5.6 lakh, not ₹3–4 lakh). |
| 2 Oct 2026 | GST calculator and sales tax tool | Slab examples updated for the 22 September 2025 rate changes (air conditioners moved from 28% to 18%; restaurants and hotels corrected). |
| 2 Oct 2026 | Blood pressure checker | Readings are now classified on the higher of the systolic and diastolic categories (for example 190/80 is a hypertensive crisis). |
| 3 Oct 2026 | About and Privacy pages | Removed an inaccurate claim of "no tracking" (the site uses anonymous analytics) and stated plainly that no ads are shown yet. |
Independence and advertising
No one pays for placement in our results or for a favourable write-up. Tools run in your browser and your input is not sent to our servers (see the privacy policy). We do not show ads today. When we do, they will be labelled "Advertisement", kept clearly separate from the tool and its results, and never placed above the tool. Any affiliate relationship would be disclosed next to the link.
