What you can set

The text (it starts as CONFIDENTIAL), its size from 12 to 120 points, its colour (red to start with), its opacity from 5% to 100% (30% to start with), its angle from -90° to 90° (45° to start with), and its position: the centre or any of the four corners. The same watermark goes on every page.

A live preview draws the watermark on a full-size page from your PDF as you change the settings, and you can click any page thumbnail to see how it looks on that page before you download.

What kind of mark it is

The watermark is text drawn on top of each page in Helvetica Bold, so it prints and shows in every viewer. It is a visible marking, not protection: someone with a PDF editor can usually select and delete added text. Use it to label a document as a draft, as confidential or as a review copy.

Which characters work

The built-in Helvetica Bold font can draw Latin letters, digits and common punctuation. Text in other scripts, such as Hindi, Arabic or Chinese, cannot be drawn; the tool shows a message instead of producing a broken file.
