All pages or selected pages

Choose All pages to turn the whole document, or Specific pages to turn only some. In Specific pages mode you can click thumbnails or type page numbers and ranges such as 1, 3 or 2-5; the thumbnails and the box always agree. For a single page that needs a different turn, use the left and right turn buttons under its thumbnail; they are applied on top of the angle you chose.

The angles

90° turns a page a quarter turn clockwise, 180° turns it upside down, and 270° is the same as 90° counter-clockwise. If a page already has a rotation setting, the new turn is added to it, and the thumbnails show how each page will look when you download.

What happens to the content

The tool changes each page's rotation setting; it does not redraw the page. Text stays selectable and searchable, links keep working and images keep their quality. The file stays about the same size. Your original file is not changed, and the download is named after it with -rotated added.

Why a scan comes out sideways

A scanner or a phone camera app may save a page sideways or upside down, and the PDF then displays it that way everywhere until the page is rotated. Rotating and saving a corrected copy fixes it for every viewer. A file that cannot be read shows the message Could not read PDF.
