How the App Store Screenshot Mockup tool works

The tool places your app screenshot inside a simple device outline (iPhone 15, Pixel 8, iPad or no frame) on a solid background colour, with an optional title and subtitle above or below. You upload a screenshot, pick the frame and colours, and download one PNG. Everything runs in your browser, so the screenshot is never uploaded. The frames are plain outlines with rounded corners, not photographs of real devices, and the background is a single colour (there are no gradients).

What size is the downloaded PNG?

The canvas is drawn at three times the device's logical size, plus the frame and the text strip. For the iPhone 15 frame with text that is 1287 × 2904 px. The page shows the exact size under the preview. The screenshot is scaled to fill the screen area without stretching, so a screenshot with a different aspect ratio is cropped at the edges. The framed image is a marketing graphic and its size is set by the frame you choose, not by an App Store slot, so check the screenshot sizes in App Store Connect before uploading, and use plain screenshots at Apple's exact pixel sizes where it asks for them.

Where mockups help

Framed screenshots with a short benefit headline are common in store listings, on landing pages and in launch posts. Put the headline you want people to read first on the first screenshot, keep it to a few words, and use the same background colour across the set so the listing looks consistent. The tool makes one image at a time, so repeat it for each screen.
