How the Meta Tag Preview tool works
The meta tag preview tool renders how your web page will appear in Google Search results, Facebook shares, Twitter cards, and LinkedIn posts — all in one interface. Enter your title, description, URL, and Open Graph image URL to see accurate previews before publishing, then copy the complete HTML meta tag block ready to paste into your page head.
Title tag best practices
Google displays title tags up to approximately 600 pixels wide, which corresponds to 50–60 characters of average-width text. Titles under 50 characters may appear too short and miss keyword opportunities; titles over 60 characters are truncated with an ellipsis. The preview shows truncation in real time. Include your primary keyword near the beginning of the title, and consider adding your brand name at the end separated by a pipe or dash.
Meta description optimisation
Meta descriptions appear in search results below the title and URL. Google shows up to approximately 920 pixels (around 150–160 characters) on desktop and 130 characters on mobile before truncating. While meta descriptions are not a direct ranking factor, a compelling description improves click-through rate, which is a user signal. The preview renders both desktop and mobile truncation lengths simultaneously so you can optimise for both.
Open Graph image (og:image) requirements
Facebook, LinkedIn, and most social networks use the og:image meta tag for link preview images. The recommended size is 1200×630 px (1.91:1 aspect ratio) at minimum 600×315 px. Twitter's summary_large_image card uses the same 1200×630 px recommendation. The image must be served over HTTPS and should be under 8 MB. The preview renders a realistic social card mockup using your image URL to confirm dimensions and cropping look correct.
Twitter Card meta tags
Twitter Cards require twitter:card (set to summary or summary_large_image), twitter:title, twitter:description, and twitter:image. The summary_large_image type shows a full-width image above the text — much more visually impactful than the small thumbnail used by the basic summary card. If twitter: tags are absent, Twitter falls back to og: tags. The meta tag preview renders both card types and generates the complete tag set for your chosen configuration.
Frequently asked questions
- What is an OG image?
- OG (Open Graph) image is the large preview image that appears when your URL is shared on social media like Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter/X. The recommended size is 1200×630 pixels (1.91:1 ratio). Without an OG image, social platforms pick any image from the page.
- What is the ideal meta title length?
- Google typically displays up to 60 characters in search results. Titles longer than 60 characters get truncated with '…'. Keep your most important keywords near the start of the title.
- What is the ideal meta description length?
- Google displays approximately 155–160 characters in search snippets. Descriptions longer than 160 characters are truncated. Include your primary keyword and a clear call to action.
- What is Twitter Card?
- Twitter Card is Twitter/X's version of Open Graph. The summary_large_image card type shows a large preview image above the tweet. Set twitter:card to summary_large_image and provide twitter:image for best visual impact.
- Do meta tags affect SEO rankings?
- Meta description does not directly affect rankings but strongly influences click-through rate in search results, which is an indirect ranking signal. Meta title is a confirmed ranking factor for Google.
