Brokerage Calculator — Know Your Real Trading Costs Before Every Trade

Every trade on NSE or BSE involves far more than just the broker's commission. Securities Transaction Tax, exchange transaction charges, SEBI regulatory fees, GST on services, and stamp duty all stack up — and for frequent intraday or F&O traders, these costs can easily exceed the brokerage itself. This calculator computes every charge accurately so you know your true net P&L before you hit the buy or sell button.

How to use this calculator

Select your trading segment — equity delivery, intraday, futures, or options — then enter the buy price, sell price, and quantity. The calculator instantly shows the gross P&L, itemised charges (brokerage, STT, exchange charges, SEBI levy, GST, and stamp duty), total charges, and net P&L after all deductions. For options, enter the premium instead of the stock price. Default rates follow Zerodha's pricing structure, which is the industry benchmark for discount brokers in India.

Understanding STT and other statutory charges

Securities Transaction Tax (STT) is the largest statutory cost for most traders. For equity delivery, STT is 0.1% on both buy and sell sides. For intraday, it drops to 0.025% on the sell side only. F&O traders pay STT only on the sell side at 0.01% for futures and 0.05% for options premiums. SEBI charges ₹10 per crore of turnover, while exchange transaction charges vary between NSE and BSE. Stamp duty is charged only on buy-side transactions at rates that differ by segment and state.

Who uses this tool

Retail equity investors use it to verify whether a short-term trade is worth the round-trip cost before execution. Intraday traders use it to calculate breakeven points — the minimum price movement needed just to cover all charges. F&O traders use it to compare the cost difference between buying options versus selling them, since STT treatment differs significantly. Beginners use it to understand why their realized P&L on the broker's statement is lower than expected.

Privacy and data handling

All calculations happen entirely in your browser. Your trade details, position sizes, and P&L data are never uploaded to any server — safe to use even for sensitive portfolio analysis.
